I thought terroforming was supposed to be race specific anyways. ![]() Tldr: Basically just saying limiting the trees would probably create a ton of other balance issues. Though that already is already kind of true with promethean/dvar being better with lava early game, esp since those are part of the doctrine tree. For example: Indentured units are pretty meh without the doctrine making them cheap, etc.Īlso, there are plenty of terraforming options at the upper end of the tree, if you limit it too much, you basically make it so you have to play those on some map generation settings. And without access to the default weapon trees, alot of them have pretty trash options without the right dwelling or secret tech. There are other intriguing options to like getting a biological regen from kirk'o, or mechanical regeneration from assembly, or just in general being able to produce snipers from a sniper-less race or getting a tier 3 that better suits your tastes. In that case, you might find it highly beneficial to absorb vanguard/dvar/amazons because they have racial mods that have stagger resistance (good god finally you can protect your frenzied and snipers from omnipresent stagger). For example, it is possible to choose a combination of say kir'ko and psynumbra and you have no mods that protect you from stagger. Still, you might find racial tech useful at times. So no, you can't research their weapon or secret mods, you're "stuck" with what you got. When you absorb another race's colony, you only can research their racial tech (there are mods there, just not necessarily all the ones you might want, because you can't absorb their weapon channels). Even though the weapon channels are based on race, you can't absorb them. The weapon channels are based on your race (i.e. ![]() The military section is broken into 4 categories: racial tech, weapon channel 1, weapon channel 2, and secret tech.
